Howie Kendrick retires after 15 seasons
Howie Kendrick is calling it a career after 15 years in the majors, the free-agent infielder announced Monday on Instagram.
"I will always love the game of baseball and will constantly reflect on the lifelong memories made," Kendrick wrote. "For now, it's time to drop the mic and enter a new stage of my life."
Kendrick played in 1,621 career games split between the Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies, and Washington Nationals. He spent nine seasons with the Angels after reaching the big leagues in 2006.
The 37-year-old was named National League Championship Series MVP in 2019, the same year his Nationals won their first World Series in franchise history.
Kendrick, who earned an All-Star nod in 2011, ends his career boasting a .294/.337/.430 slash line with 127 home runs, 354 doubles, and 724 RBIs.
