A's lead wave of 7 postponements to pursue 'meaningful change'
The Oakland Athletics will not take the field at Globe Life Park on Thursday for their game against the Texas Rangers, citing continued social injustice and systemic racism as the reasons for their refusal to play.
"We will not take the field tonight to help raise awareness for these social issues, not just tonight, but for our collective future," read an official statement from the Athletics players. "This is the first step in our relentless pursuit for meaningful change."
Other teams have followed Oakland's lead. Here's a full list of Thursday's games to be postponed:
Game
---
Athletics vs. Rangers
Phillies vs. Nationals
Twins vs. Tigers
Red Sox vs. Blue Jays
D-Backs vs. Rockies
Rays vs. Orioles

In the wake of protests across multiple sports leagues, three games - featuring the Milwaukee Brewers, Cincinnati Reds, San Diego Padres, Seattle Mariners, San Francisco Giants, and Los Angeles Dodgers - were also postponed Wednesday.
