Blue Jays' Montoyo: Bichette, Guerrero can't make 'those mistakes'
Toronto Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo wasn't thrilled about several mistakes young stars Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette made on the basepaths and in the field during Friday's loss to the Boston Red Sox.
Both Guerrero and Bichette made baserunning blunders when they ran into the first out of the inning going to third base in the top of the first and sixth, respectively.
Bichette ran into the first out off a ground ball after getting to second base on a single and an error, while Guerrero was tagged at third trying to stretch an RBI double to a triple.

"You should never make the first out at third base," Montoyo said postgame, according to Keegan Matheson of MLB.com. "Or a ground ball at short, getting thrown out at third. You should never do that. Those were bad mistakes. We're going to teach the kids to get better. It looks bigger when you're not scoring runs."
He added: "It's player development in the big leagues. We're still young, but we cannot make those mistakes."
Montoyo was also critical of Guerrero's defense at first base after failing to make a few plays in foul territory in the seventh inning.

"He just missed them. There's no excuse," Montoyo said. "We're in the big leagues and you should be able to make those plays. For some reason, he didn't see them. He went too fast. When you go too fast, the ball moves a lot and I think that's what happened. He was out of control when he went to it. He wasn't going nice and easy."
Guerrero, 21, has struggled this year and seemed to respond to those critical of him before Friday's game.
