Rays offering $2 tickets for upcoming series vs. Orioles
Fans of the Tampa Bay Rays won't have to pay much to see their team take on the Baltimore Orioles in an upcoming three-game series.
The team announced Thursday $2 tickets from July 1-3 to draw more people to Tropicana Field, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.
There will be thousands of tickets available for each game with a limit of six per household, per game, and the seat locations will vary between 100, 200, and party deck levels, Topkin notes. In addition, fans will also be able to purchase peanuts and fountain drinks for $2 during the three games.
This will be the first home game for the Rays since the MLB gave the team permission to explore the possibility of splitting home games between Tampa Bay and Montreal.
Team owner Stuart Sternberg acknowledged Tuesday the club isn't well-suited to stay in Florida full time.
The Rays are averaging under 14,500 fans per game this season despite a 46-35 record and a 90-win campaign in 2018. The only team averaging less is the Miami Marlins (9,249).
