Down 2-1 early in Game 7 of the National League Championship Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Milwaukee Brewers turned to their lights-out bullpen.

Brewers relief ace Josh Hader was summoned to pitch the third inning of the winner-take-all contest after starter Jhoulys Chacin allowed a pair of runs to score in the second. Jonathan Schoop pinch hit for Chacin during a brief Brewers rally in the bottom of the second but grounded out to end the frame.

Hader had thrown just 4 2/3 innings in the NLCS before Game 7, and hadn't appeared in the series since Game 4.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts countered the Brewers' move to the southpaw by using Enrique Hernandez as a pinch hitter for the left-handed hitting Joc Pederson in the third.

Hader was lifted for pinch hitter Domingo Santana in the bottom of the fifth inning. The 24-year-old southpaw struck out four and did not allow a run in his three innings of work, maintaining his 0.00 ERA this postseason.
