Astros won't get Correa back until after All-Star break
The Houston Astros will continue to be without one of their best players until after the All-Star break.
Shortstop Carlos Correa won't return from his back injury until after the Midsummer Classic, according to AT&T SportsNet's Julia Morales, who reports the 23-year-old will need a rehab assignment before coming back.
Correa has been on the disabled list with a stiff back since June 29 and hasn't participated in many baseball activities of late. He did resume swinging a bat Wednesday.
Super utility man Marwin Gonzalez has been getting the bulk of the playing time at shortstop with Correa out.
The youngster was in the midst of a stellar first half before landing on the DL, posting a .268/.352/.480 slash line with 13 homers, 16 doubles, and 49 RBIs.
