Jewell, who stumbled and appeared to badly roll his ankle, was attended to by trainers before being removed from the field.
After the contest, Angels manager Mike Scioscia said Jewell was sent to Massachusetts General Hospital to be evaluated and the club will update his status at a later date, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic.
The 25-year-old was recalled by the Angels on Wednesday. He had logged just two career MLB appearances before entering the contest against the Red Sox.
