Odubel Herrera won't be catching Ted Williams.

Herrera's on-base streak ended at 45 games on Sunday during a 5-1 Philadelphia Phillies loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. His drive fell drastically short of Williams' 84-game streak set in 1949, but was still impressive in its own right.

Herrera was 0-for-4 in the contest, including three strikeouts.

The 26-year-old put together the fourth longest on-base streak in Phillies history behind Mike Schmidt (56 games), Chuck Klein (49), and Bobby Abreu (48).

"What an incredible accomplishment," manager Gabe Kapler said, according to MLB.com's Joe Harris. "I was looking at the list before the game of guys who have reached base somewhere in that many games and wow there are some Hall of Famers, some perennial All-Stars on that list, so he's in good company."

Herrera's streak is the longest of its kind since Freddie Freeman of the Atlanta Braves reached base in 46 consecutive games in 2016.

He's now batting .344 on the season to go along with a .411 on-base percentage.
