Orioles' Sisco leaves game after collision with Alvarez's elbow
Baltimore Orioles catcher Chance Sisco had to leave Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Angels following a collision with teammate Pedro Alvarez in the seventh inning.
Sisco and Alvarez, Baltimore's third baseman, both chased after Ian Kinsler's pop-up in foul territory, with Sisco ranging all the way to the third base coach's box. Alvarez caught the ball, and as he squeezed the out, a seemingly unaware Sisco ran into Alvarez's elbow with his jaw, sending the catcher to the ground in a heap.
After being tended to on the field by Orioles training staff, Sisco left the field under his own power and was replaced behind the plate by Caleb Joseph.
Following Baltimore's 3-2 loss to the Angels, manager Buck Showalter told reporters that Sisco was not showing any symptoms of a concussion, according to Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com.
The 23-year-old, ranked as the Orioles' No. 3 prospect by MLB Pipeline, is hitting .245/.351/.367 with a home run and seven RBIs in 21 games this season.
