He saw it coming.

Giancarlo Stanton signed his record 13-year, $325-million contract with the Miami Marlins before the 2015 season. Only three years later, the 28-year-old found himself on the move, officially joining the New York Yankees on Monday. Though the trade came as a surprise to the baseball world, Stanton's agent says his client envisioned it happening from the moment he signed the contract handed to him by then-Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria.

"Giancarlo predicted it," said Joel Wolfe, according to SB Nation's Chris Cotillo. "He's like the Baseball Nostradamus."

Now that he's out of Miami, it appears the MVP isn't looking back. While Stanton has the right to opt out of his deal in 2020, Wolfe noted his client is ready to stay in the Bronx until his contract expires a decade from now.

"He has no desire to opt out," the agent said, according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports.

"He wanted to be sure because this (trade) is it," Wolfe added, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.

Stanton is owed $295 million over the remaining 10 years on his record deal. The Yankees are reportedly picking up all but $30 million of that total.
