Athletics push Gray's start back amid trade rumors
The Oakland Athletics are taking no chances with their biggest trade piece as the club has pushed back Sonny Gray's next scheduled start from Sunday to Monday, according to MLB Network's Jon Morosi.
Gray's next start would now come after the official deadline at 4 p.m. ET on Monday, if he remains with Oakland.
According to Morosi, the Athletics are still in ongoing discussions with the New York Yankees about a possible trade involving Gray.
Oakland's decision to push back Gray's start Sunday - scheduled to be against the Minnesota Twins - adds credence to an earlier report Saturday that stated multiple teams looking to acquire the 27-year-old had asked the Athletics to skip the right-hander's next outing.
If Gray does stick around in the Bay Area, he would now face the San Francisco Giants instead.
