After leaving Friday's game upon twisting his ankle on first base, Troy Tulowitzki's MRI revealed the Toronto Blue Jays shortstop suffered ligament damage and will need further evaluation from a specialist.
Tulowitzki was placed on the 10-day disabled list Saturday and, at the time, manager John Gibbons expected a short-term absence.
Ryan Goins and Darwin Barney will likely share the shortstop duties going forward, with newcomer Rob Refsnyder taking some second base responsibilities.
The 32-year-old Tulowitzki has played in 66 games this season, posting a .249/.300/.378 slash line while hitting 22 percent below the league average by wRC+.
