Look: Wainwright dons locker room disguise to scare teammates
Jeff Curry / USA TODAY Sports
After Adam Wainwright's first seven starts of 2017, fans of the St. Louis Cardinals couldn't have been blamed for wondering where the real Waino was. He was 2-3 with a 6.37 ERA and an uncharacteristically high 3.31 walks per nine innings.
In three starts since, Wainwright's been a different pitcher. He's 3-0, and has allowed only a single earned run combined, pitching into the seventh inning in all three appearances.
He's also playing the role of team prankster. Doing his best to stay still, Wainwright donned catcher's gear while waiting for some unsuspecting teammates to walk by. There's no telling yet if he was able to lure someone into his trap.
