New York Mets fans will never forget those three glorious years Bartolo Colon pitched in Queens.
Before his first at-bat at Citi Field in an Atlanta Braves uniform against Mets starter Jacob deGrom on Wednesday, Colon was greeted with a standing ovation from the Mets faithful, and he acknowledged them by pointing to the sky in triumph. Sadly, there would be no repeat of the 43-year-old's magical home run on this night, as Colon struck out looking.
Mets fans also gave Colon a raucous ovation during pregame ceremonies on Monday, and again during a video tribute played on Citi Field's jumbotron before Wednesday's contest.
Colon posted a 44-34 record on the mound and hit .083 during his three years with the Mets.
