Report: D-Backs receiving trade interest in Nick Ahmed
Jake Roth / USA TODAY Sports
The Arizona Diamondbacks are reportedly receiving trade interest in shortstop Nick Ahmed, according to azcentral sports' Nick Piecoro, who notes the San Diego Padres, Tampa Bay Rays, and New York Yankees have expressed interest.
His health appears to be a question mark for interested teams, however, due to the hip surgery the 27-year-old underwent in August, according to Piecoro.
Padres manager Andy Green, who coached Ahmed in the minors in 2015, is said to be a fan of the infielder, reportedly sending a multitude of scouts to watch him Tuesday against the Kansas City Royals, Piecoro adds.
Entering his fourth year in the big leagues, Ahmed has a career slash line of .221/.268/.299.
