Wilmer Flores emerged victorious in arbitration negotiations with the New York Mets on Saturday, as arbitrators deemed the infielder will receive the $2.2-million salary in 2017 he had requested, reports FanRag Sports' Jon Heyman.

New York had countered Flores' request with a $1.8-million offer.

The utility infielder had a modest season at the plate for the Mets in 2016, slashing .267/.319/.469 with 16 home runs in 103 games.

His season was cut short on Sept. 10, however, after he injured his wrist in a home-plate collision against the Atlanta Braves. He underwent surgery in October to remove part of the hamate bone in his wrist.
