Report: Mets agree to 1-year, $3M deal with Fernando Salas
The New York Mets addressed a bullpen need on Friday by agreeing to bring back pitcher Fernando Salas, reports FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal.
Salas will receive a one-year major-league deal, according to a source of ESPN's Jerry Crasnick.
The contract, which is pending a physical, is worth $3 million and Salas can earn up to $350,000 in performance bonuses, reports James Wagner of The New York Times.
Salas pitched well for the Mets after coming over in an Aug. 31 trade, fashioning a 2.08 ERA in 17 appearances without allowing a walk.
The 31-year-old right-hander will join a Mets bullpen that may be without closer Jeurys Familia to begin the season. The club is awaiting a decision on whether Familia will be suspended because of an alleged domestic violence incident in October.
