Harper marries longtime girlfriend in San Diego
Bryce Harper finally got his ring. All he needed was the offseason to arrive.
The Washington Nationals superstar and his longtime girlfriend Kayla Varner finally tied the knot over the weekend, getting married at the San Diego Mormon Temple. Harper and Varner had broken off their previous engagement, but got back together earlier this year, spawning the couples' wedding hashtag of #TheSequel.
The nuptials, in true modern-day form, were chronicled on the Instagram accounts of bride and groom, as well as many other guests.
The groom's party was decked out in stellar blue tuxedos - not red, if that means anything to Washington baseball fans concerned about Harper's looming free agency - but it certainly had a distinct Nats theme. Groomsmen included Harper's former Nationals teammate Ian Desmond, and his current outfield-mate Jayson Werth - who even got his famous beard trimmed especially for the occasion. Serving as the best man was Harper's brother Bryan, a reliever who spent last year with the Nationals' Triple-A affiliate.
It appears everyone had a grand old time celebrating the marriage. Even Harper's noted super-agent Scott Boras let his hair down a little bit at the party, posing behind a hilarious fake "Wanted" sign.
Wishing Mr. and Mrs. Harper all the best in a long and happy life together.
