The Kansas City Royals have traded right-handed pitcher Brooks Pounders to the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for right-handed minor leaguer Jared Ruxer, the teams announced Thursday.
Pounders, a 26-year-old reliever, made his MLB debut this past season for the Royals. He appeared in 13 games, pitching to a 9.24 ERA and 1.737 WHIP in 12 2/3 innings.
Ruxer was selected in the 12th round of the 2014 MLB draft by the Angels, but has yet to progress past Single-A. He posted a combined 5.18 ERA in 11 minor-league starts in 2016.
To make room on the 40-man roster, the Angels designated left-hander Cody Ege for assignment.
