Yoan Moncada's stint in the Arizona Fall League has come to an end after the Boston Red Sox announced Friday that the infielder sprained his left thumb.
MLB's top prospect won't participate in baseball activity for two weeks and should be ready for spring training.
The 21-year-old Cuban injured his thumb last week after recording seven hits in 24 at-bats, which included one home run.
Moncada made a brief eight-game cameo for the Red Sox in September, hitting .211/.250/.263 across 19 at-bats in his first big-league action.
His 2016 minor-league campaign saw him hit .294/.407/.511 with 15 home runs and 62 RBIs, to go along with 45 stolen bases across two levels.
Moncada signed with the Red Sox for $31.5 million in February 2015.
