Who says Big Papi's slowing down?
David Ortiz caught the Seattle Mariners and pitcher Edwin Diaz napping in the seventh inning and stole second base, to the surprise of just about everybody. The Mariners were so caught off guard by this turn of events, that catcher Chris Iannetta couldn't even get a throw off to second base.
Ortiz's second stolen base of the season earned him a thunderous ovation from the Fenway Park faithful. The 40-year-old now owns 17 stolen bases in 26 career attempts, and is halfway to his career high of four steals, set in 2013.
The Red Sox couldn't bring Ortiz around to score, but they still held on to take the series from Seattle with a 2-1 victory.
