Pence limps off field after re-injuring hamstring
San Francisco Giants right fielder Hunter Pence made an early exit from Wednesday's game against the Atlanta Braves, limping off the field after straining his right hamstring while running out a ground ball in the fourth inning, according to Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Pence, who missed time last month with discomfort in the same hamstring, came up lame as he tried to leg out a slow dribbler down the third-base line, pulling up well before the bag and grabbing his right leg in pain. He then limped off the field and was immediately replaced in right by Jarrett Parker.
Pence, who averaged 159 games per season from 2008 through 2014, started battling issues with his right hamstring during his club's series in San Diego May 17-19.
"You know how he's always busting down the line," manager Bruce Bochy told Schulman not long after that series against the Padres. "He was hobbling a little bit. Yesterday we talked about it a little bit. He thought it was just general soreness that he thought would go away. Today it was bothering him a little bit. So he's getting a day. He's getting treatment today. Hopefully he'll get rid of this thing."
