Pirates' Arquimedes Caminero: Headed to DL with quad strain
Caminero was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with a left quad strain.
Analysis:
It's unclear when the injury occurred, but the injury is apparently severe enough to send Caminero to the DL. This injury may also explain his recent struggles, including the horrific outing Tuesday where he hit two players with pitches. Whatever the case is, the right-hander will get some time off to nurse his ailment before ultimately heading out for a minor league rehab assignment. There is currently no timetable for his return, although that should come into focus once he starts ramping up his throwing. To fill his spot on the major league roster, left-hander Kyle Lobstein was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis.
