Report: Real Sociedad makes Joel Campbell bid
It may finally be time for Joel Campbell to unpack the suitcase he's been living out of for the last four years, as reports suggest Real Sociedad boss David Moyes has tabled a £6-million bid for the Arsenal attacker.
The 23-year old Costa Rican, who has been on Arsenal's books since 2011 following his sale from hometown club Deportivo Saprissa, has been loaned four times by the North London side in the last four years. Spells with Lorient, Real Betis, Olympiacos, and Villarreal were met with mixed results, all in hopes of finding a permanent place in the defending FA Cup champions' squad.
As chances of that seem to be all but gone, Campbell's career could benefit from the stability of a permanent move. Sociedad, who finished 12th last season in La Liga, have been looking to replace Antoine Griezmann's scoring and pace since his departure two seasons ago to Atletico Madrid.
Campbell, who is with the Costa Rican national side for the CONCACAF Gold Cup, was not invited on Arsenal's preseason Asian tour. That, coupled with the fact he has yet to start a Premier League match for the Gunners, could indicate willingness on Arsene Wenger's part to sell the young forward.
