Juventus rejects €80-million offer from Barcelona for Paul Pogba: 'We won't sell him'
Barcelona is serious about their interest in Paul Pogba, and Juventus is equally sincere about their declaration that the French midfielder will not be going anywhere this summer.
Responding to a report from Spanish outlet Sport, which claimed an agreement had been reached between the two sides that would see the imperious 22-year-old join the Catalan club next summer, Juventus director Giuseppe Marotta told La Gazzetta dello Sport that the Italian side has no intention of selling their star.
"Yes, we received an offer of €80 million but we won't sell Pogba," Marotta said.
So, there.
Pogba has long been linked with a move to a host of Europe's top clubs, with everyone from Manchester City, Chelsea, Paris Saint-German, and Real Madrid reportedly interested in the French superstar - and with good reason.
Young, physically dominant, supremely skilled and adept both going forward and in his own end - where his dexterity and long limbs allow him to make tackles most wouldn't even consider - Pogba is arguably already the world's premier box-to-box midfielder. At 22. With his best years, of which there should be so, so many, still to come.
If this latest news out of Catalonia, which is tied heavily to Barcelona's upcoming presidential elections, is any indication, that group of mega-rich clubs will likely need to hit something in the €100-million range to complete a deal for the man quickly becoming the most sought-after footballer on the planet.
