Argentina releases statement quelling speculation over Messi injury ... he's fine
Relax, world. Lionel Messi is just fine.
Speculation was rampant Tuesday that the Barcelona superstar suffered an injury during a training session with Argentina, forcing him to undergo immediate tests to determine the severity of what was being reported in some places as a foot injury.
Part of that was correct. Sort of.
The Argentine Football Federation (AFA) released a statement confirming that Messi was indeed taken to a clinic in Washington, D.C., near where the team was training ahead of Friday's friendly against El Salvador at FedEx Field.
However, tests on his right foot were negative, quelling any speculation that he was dealing with a serious problem initially picked up during the 2-1 win over Real Madrid on Sunday.
As you were, everyone.
