Report: Barcelona approach Zagreb for Spain international Olmo
Dani Olmo is enjoying a breakthrough campaign at Dinamo Zagreb, and the Spaniard is nearing a reward for his efforts.
Barcelona have made a formal approach for the 21-year-old versatile attacker, eyeing the recently capped Spain international for a summer switch, ESPN FC's Moises Llorens and Sam Marsden report.
Olmo progressed through Barcelona's famed La Masia academy before seeking first-team football in Croatia as a 16-year-old.
Capable of playing on the wing or as an attacking midfielder, Olmo starred at last summer's Under-21 European Championship. At Zagreb, Olmo has paired well with forward Mislav Orsic for the 20-time Croatian league winners, boosting his profile this season with a slew of stellar performances in the Champions League.
These displays prompted a call-up to Spain's senior side, where Olmo made his competitive debut in a Euro qualifier in November against Malta. Olmo opened his La Roja account three minutes after coming on for Alvaro Morata in a comprehensive 7-0 victory.
Zagreb reportedly also received advances from Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Manchester United, and Tottenham for Olmo, whom the club previously valued at €40 million.
Barcelona are currently loaded with attacking talent, with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Antoine Griezmann forming Ernesto Valverde's first-choice front-three, and Ousmane Dembele, Ansu Fati, and Carles Perez providing competition.
