Valencia reacquired a familiar face on Tuesday.

Russia's World Cup star Denis Cheryshev is joining Los Che on loan for the upcoming season from fellow La Liga club Villarreal.

The swap marks the 27-year-old's second stint with Valencia. Then on loan from Real Madrid, Cheryshev spent the second half of the 2015-16 season at the Mestalla but a hamstring issue limited the winger to just seven league appearances.

Cheryshev was one of the World Cup's standout performers this summer in Russia, scoring four goals in five matches as the host nation defied expectations to reach the quarterfinals.

A product of La Fabrica, Real Madrid's heralded youth academy, Cheryshev has spent his entire career to date in Spain, first debuting with Los Merengues in a Copa del Rey tilt against Alcoyano in November 2012. He didn't make his first La Liga appearance until the following season, however, when he was sent on loan to Sevilla.

He later joined Villarreal on loan for the 2014-15 season, with the Yellow Submarine eventually signing him to a permanent deal in June 2016.
