Look: Real Madrid gets warm Japanese welcome before Club World Cup semi
Real Madrid received a heroes' welcome upon landing in Japan Monday ahead of Thursday's Club World Cup semi-final against Mexican giant Club America in Yokohama.
Zinedine Zidane's lot travelled on the back of Saturday's dramatic 3-2 victory over Deportivo La Coruna.
It was 5.15 a.m. local time when Los Blancos touched down at Haneda Airport, but ESPN FC's Dermot Corrigan reports there were hundreds waiting to greet them.
Despite Marca reporting that Real Madrid's stars were discouraged from signing autographs by local police, some players, including Marcelo, obliged anyway.
And so did Toni Kroos, who managed 90 minutes against Deportivo after overcoming a foot complaint earlier this month.
On the other side of the draw, Colombia's Atletico Nacional and Japan's Kashima Antlers meet in Wednesday's semi-final in Suita, Osaka.
