Madrid court reopens Neymar transfer case
Less than three months after National Court judge Jose de la Mata waived a grievance regarding Neymar's contentious move from Santos to Barcelona, a Madrid court has reopened the case.
The court announced an intent to revisit the case Friday, though no date has been set, according to Sky Sports.
Neymar's move from his hometown club to the Catalans in 2013 prompted a complaint from Brazilian investment group DIS, who claim Neymar, his father, former Barcelona chief Sandro Rosell, and ex-Santos president Odilio Rodrigues are responsible for alleged irregularities.
An initial investigation began in January 2014, with Rosell resigning from his position as president nine days later.
DIS' complaint stems from the 40 percent of Neymar's move the third party was entitled to that resulted in a smaller payment because the fee was concealed.
Because of this claim, prosecutors appealed Mata's judgment, with judge Angela Murillo Bordallo ruling there is sufficient evidence to reopen the case.
The accused parties, including Neymar, have all denied wrongdoing.
