Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has offered to send financial aid to his home island of Madeira as wildfires sweep through parts of the Portuguese archipelago, reports Nuno Luz from Marca.
Ronaldo reportedly called Miguel Albuquerque, the head of the regional government, to pledge his support after the fire claimed three lives.
The fire, which seemingly started outside the capital of Funchal, has also left more than 300 people injured as it makes its way toward the city.
Ronaldo's contributions to Madeira have been frequent and far-reaching, and in return, the island's airport is named after him.
