Atletico Madrid's 20-year-old defender Lucas Hernandez has renewed his contract with the club until the conclusion of the 2019-20 campaign.
The France youth international has been on Atleti's books since the age of 11, progressing through the age categories and reserve team before becoming a common fixture in the matchday squad with 16 first-team outings in 2015-16.
"I'm very happy to stay in the club of my life," Lucas said upon agreeing terms.
Diego Simeone hasn't acquired any centre-backs during the summer transfer window, meaning that Lucas' familiar rivals for a starting XI berth comprise of Diego Godin, Jose Gimenez, and Stefan Savic.
Atletico Madrid begins its La Liga title pursuit against Alaves on Aug. 21.
