Lyon, Monaco secure Ligue 1's final Champions League spots
Lyon has secured the third and final Champions League berth in Ligue 1, defeating Nice 3-2 on the final matchday to ensure it finished a solitary point above Marseille in the table.
Monaco, meanwhile, dispatched Ligue 2-bound Troyes 3-0 in what was essentially a formality to solidify second-place and its own Champions League qualification. Both Lyon and Monaco will join champions Paris Saint-Germain in the top European competition next season.
For Marseille, it's the second time in four days Les Olympiens failed to secure Champions League football for 2018-19 after they also lost Wednesday's Europa League final to Atletico Madrid. Marseille will return to the second-tier European tournament next season where they will join Rennes in the group stage. Sixth-place Bordeaux will enter in the Europa League's second qualifying round.
