Report: Arsenal to submit 3rd bid for Monaco star Thomas Lemar
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has his sights on AS Monaco star winger Thomas Lemar and is set to submit a third bid for the 21-year-old Frenchman after seeing prior offers of £30 million and £40 million spurned by the club, reports John Cross of the Mirror.
The Gunners are set to increase their offer to £45 million-plus to try to pry Lemar out of Monaco with full belief that they can "get their man," Cross reports.
It would make Lemar the second player to break the club's old transfer record of £42.5 million, as Arsenal acquired Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon for £52.7 million earlier in the week.
Lemar's party has reportedly held talks with Arsenal and Monaco in the hopes of completing a deal, but Monaco is apparently hesitant to sell all of its stars.
Cross adds that Lemar is a top priority for Wenger, but Arsenal is also considering Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez, but only as a backup option.
