Dutch midfielder Kevin Strootman is swapping the Eternal City for the sun and fun of the Cote d'Azur.

Marseille announced Tuesday that Strootman and former Roma tutor Rudi Garcia will reunite at the Stade Velodrome, unveiling the 28-year-old midfielder with a video nod to popular video game Fortnite. Strootman becomes a Marseille player on a five-year deal for a €25-million fee plus up to €3 million in performance-related bonuses.

Stricken with repeated knee injuries, Strootman became surplus to requirements under Eusebio Di Francesco with the summer additions of fellow midfielders Steven Nzonzi, Bryan Cristante, and Javier Pastore.

A proficient passer with an eye for the long ball, the 40-time internationally capped Strootman started 65 Serie A matches over the last two seasons after injury limited him to five during the 2015-16 campaign.

Strootman becomes the fourth Dutchman to play for Marseille in Ligue 1, joining Tscheu La Ling, Karim Rekik, and Boudewijn Zenden.
