Athletic Bilbao names Berizzo as new manager

Eduardo Berizzo has returned to Spain's top flight after being named manager of Athletic Bilbao on Thursday.

The hiring comes less than six months after he was fired by Sevilla following a run of poor results. Sevilla parted ways with the 48-year-old a month after he was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Berizzo signed a one-year contract with Athletic Bilbao.

Prior to his brief spell at Sevilla, Berizzo managed Celta Vigo after beginning his coaching career in Argentina.
