Sturridge earns first start in 4 months, promptly scores opener vs. Aston Villa
Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge made his latest comeback from injury Sunday against Aston Villa, following a spell of over four months without a start.
The England international has dealt with a succession of issues this term, restricting him to just three league starts. He's still shown an ability in front of goal in that time, though, grabbing two goals, as well as a brace in a 6-1 rout of Southampton in the League Cup in December.
That ability was on display early in Sunday's match, as the English striker netted the opening goal of the contest, reminding everyone that he is, when fit, one of the Premier League's best forwards.
With Wayne Rooney, Jamie Vardy, and Harry Kane firmly ahead of him in the international pecking order, Sturridge faces a race against time if he's to make Roy Hodgson's England squad for the Euro 2016 finals.
