Injury setback extends Danny Welbeck's absence
Yet to make an appearance for the Gunners this season, Arsenal attacker Danny Welbeck will be out longer than expected, according to manager Arsene Wenger.
Initially slated to return from knee surgery in January, the England international's condition has deteriorated with a deep bone bruise, and Wenger said he won't be back until February.
"Unfortunately he was injured at the end of April and we are now at the end of December and he is still not available because of a bone bruising," the gaffer said. "That deteriorated and it is a big blow to us. Especially now we cannot rotate."
Recent returns from Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have provided relief to Arsenal's lengthy injury list, with both players suited to play in a winger role similar to that of Welbeck.
