Blackburn Rovers' transfer embargo lifted
Blackburn Rovers is now compliant with the rules and regulations of Financial Fair Play and can participate in the January transfer window, the club announced Thursday.
Blackburn, Leeds United, and Nottingham Forest were handed transfer bans in December of last year after failing to comply with laws stating clubs could lose no more than £3 million a season, with a maximum of £5 million of shareholder investment over the 2013-14 campaign.
There has since been a change in management at each of the three clubs, and Paul Lambert, who took the reins at Ewood Park last month, praised Blackburn for its work to get the sanctions lifted.
"I think everybody behind the scenes, the board, staff, and especially the owners deserve a lot of credit for it," Lambert told reporters. "It is a building block, it is one little stage in trying to rebuild this club."
The former Aston Villa boss will oversee his third game in charge of the Rovers on Saturday, with a trip to struggling Bristol City.
