On Saturday, just before the interval of Leicester City's fixture at Newcastle United, another chapter was written in the story of Jamie Vardy's phenomenal season, as he equalled Van Nistelrooy's record of scoring in 10 consecutive Premier League matches.

The historic occasion, which nobody could have foreseen at the beginning of the campaign, inevitably triggered an excellent collection of congratulations and jokes on Twitter, as players, both current and former, supporters, pundits, and others typed up 140 characters or less relating to Vardy's accomplishment.
