Chelsea have signed former AC Milan player Marco Amelia on a free transfer, confirming reports the Blues were looking for a 'keeper in light of first-choice shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois' torn knee ligaments.

The 33-year-old joins the club on a free transfer with a contract expiring at year's end, according to the club's official website.
In lieu of Courtois' long-term injury, summer signing Asmir Begovic has deputized for the Belgian No. 1, performing adequately for a side littered with underwhelming performances by established stars.
