Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson did not make the squad for the match against Arsenal on Monday as the 25-year-old midfielder failed to recover in time from a foot problem.
Henderson limped off the pitch during a 1-0 win over Bournemouth last week, with manager Brendan Rodgers confirming the injury afterwards.
Adam Lallana will also miss the match with a quad injury, according to the Liverpool Echo's James Pearce.
Lucas Leiva and Emre Can will take those two spots in midfield. It will be Leiva's first appearance for Liverpool in the Premier League this season.
