No longer will Christian Stuani be tearing apart backlines at Estadi Cornella-El Prat.
RCD Espanyol announced Wednesday that the 28-year-old forward will enroll at Middlesbrough, after the two clubs reached an agreement in principle.
The transfer, which is subject to a medical revision and a signature, will see the Uruguayan leave Espanyol in the coming days, and the plan is for him to bid an official farewell to the club next week.
Stuani joined Espanyol in August of 2012, and last season saw him notch 12 goals through 37 appearances, 22 of which were as a substitute.
News of Stuani's pending transfer follows a report that Middlesbrough agreed to a fee with West Ham United for Stewart Downing.
