Report: Middlesbrough agrees to fee with West Ham for Stewart Downing
Stewart Downing looks to be on his way to the Championship.
The English winger is reportedly heading to Middlesbrough after the club agreed to a £5-million deal with West Ham to acquire the services of the 30-year-old.
Downing, capped 35 times by England, began his professional career with Boro in 2001, spending eight years at the club, where he scored 50 goals in 493 appearances (in all competitions).
The left-footed winger has been showcasing his creative attacking talents with West Ham since 2013, enjoying stints with Sunderland, Aston Villa, and Liverpool prior to his time at Upton Park.
Downing is expected to undergo a medical with Middlesbrough on Thursday, at which point he will link up with manager Aitor Karanka and his new teammates in Spain for preseason training.
