The Premier League announced Wednesday that its fifth round of COVID-19 testing revealed one positive case from 1,197 checks. Tottenham Hotspur quickly confirmed they were the source of that positive result.
The club didn't reveal whether the individual in question was a player or staff member.
"They are currently asymptomatic and will now self-isolate for seven days, in line with Premier League protocol, before undergoing further testing," Tottenham said.
To date, 5,097 coronavirus tests have been conducted over five rounds by the Premier League, returning 13 positive results. Players and staff members at all 20 clubs will continue to be tested twice a week.
England's top flight, which has been on hiatus since March 13, is slated to resume June 17.
