Watch: River Plate fans attack Boca Juniors bus, players hit by tear gas
The second leg of the Copa Libertadores final between Argentinian rivals Boca Juniors and River Plate was postponed after chaos reigned in the buildup to Saturday's match in Buenos Aires.
Hours before the scheduled kick-off, River fans pelted Boca's team bus with debris, shattering windows. Police attempted to disperse the crowd with tear gas, which inadvertently impacted players as it entered the Boca bus through the broken windows.

There were also clashes between fans and police, both prior to the originally scheduled kick-off, and after the match was called off.
Footage from inside the Boca Juniors coach details the damage inflicted on the bus.

Some Boca players had to be taken to hospital in the aftermath of the incidents, including Pablo Perez, who had glass shards stuck in his eye. Gonzalo Lamardo also had cuts to his head, face, and back, according to TNT Sports LA.

Christian Gribaudo, secretary general for Boca Juniors, called for CONMEBOL to suspend the match. "The players are all hurt, you can't play this way," he told Argentinian outlet Clarin, as translated by Reuters' Andre Downie.
River Plate fans were also seen clashing with police in riot gear as they tried to make their way into the Estadio Monumental.

Fans dressed in River Plate apparel could also be seen discretely taping what appear to be flares to children ahead of the contest.

Some Argentinian football clubs do not allow away fans to travel to matches, a ban that was first initiated in 2013 following the death of a Lanus supporter during a match against Estudiantes.
While the ban in Argentina's domestic league was lifted earlier this year, both Boca Juniors and River Plate executives agreed to keep the restriction in place for the two-legged Copa Libertadores final. Boca Juniors fans were the only ones allowed into the stadium for the first leg, while only River Plate supporters will be at the Estadio Monumental for the reverse fixture.
