Roberto Firmino's eye injury suffered in Saturday's 2-1 win over Tottenham won't result in any lasting damage.

Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen inadvertently jabbed Firmino's left eye in the second half, forcing the Liverpool forward to be removed from the match. The Reds later provided a positive update on Firmino's condition, revealing hospital tests "confirmed an abrasion" of his eye but no permanent injury.

Though exams ruled out the worst, Firmino's status for Tuesday's Champions League match against French giants Paris Saint-Germain is yet to be confirmed.

The Brazilian striker also took to his Instagram to ease Liverpool fans' concerns.

Saturday wasn't all awful for Firmino, though. The 26-year-old's 54th-minute strike - his second goal of the season - proved to be decisive in the victory, as Erik Lamela's stoppage-time goal wasn't enough to spur a late Tottenham comeback.
