Leicester City youth duo Chilwell, Gray receive England call-up
Gareth Southgate is calling up a pair of the Foxes' touted English youth internationals for Tuesday's friendly against Switzerland.
Leicester City duo Ben Chilwell and Demarai Gray, who both featured for the Three Lions' under-21 side in a European Championship qualifier against the Netherlands Thursday, will join Southgate's senior side for the match against the Swiss at the familiar setting of King Power Stadium.
Chilwell, a 21-year-old left-back, is expected to provide cover at the position following the nasty injury and concussion suffered by Manchester United defender Luke Shaw in England's Nations League loss Saturday against Spain. A 22-year-old winger, Gray will give Southgate another option in attack after Raheem Sterling left camp early with a back injury and Marcus Rashford suffered a knock against Spain, according to Matt Law of the Telegraph.
With their inclusions, Leicester City now boasts three representatives in Southgate's England squad, a trio spearheaded by center-back Harry Maguire.
That count is tied for the second-most on the Three Lions currently with Manchester City, Manchester United, and Liverpool, and behind only Tottenham, who lay claim to five of Southgate's selections: Harry Kane, Kieran Trippier, Dele Alli, Danny Rose, and Eric Dier.
