West Brom makes Hegazi move permanent
West Bromwich Albion has made centre-half Ahmed Hegazi's short-term move to the Hawthorns a permanent one.
The Baggies announced the news Monday, adding the club had activated a clause in the 26-year-old's loan switch from Cairo giant Al Ahly that will see the World Cup-bound defender in the West Midlands through 2022 for an undisclosed fee.
Signed in the summer by Tony Pulis, Hegazi has become a favourite of current boss Alan Pardew after scoring on his opening-day debut against Bournemouth. Paired with Jonny Evans in a back four or alongside Northern Ireland international Gareth McAuley in a back three, Hegazi has started all 18 of the Baggies' league fixtures this season.
"This is great news for the club - Ahmed has been absolutely terrific for me since I arrived and I am sure there is even more to come from him in the future," Pardew offered Monday.
