Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes his two star players Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez desire to remain at the Emirates Stadium beyond their expiring contracts, despite neither putting pen to paper to new deals quite yet.

Sanchez and Ozil played important roles in Arsenal's north London derby win over Tottenham on Saturday, a 2-0 win that saw the former score and the latter awarded the man of the match nod.

While both Ozil and Sanchez approach the end of their current contracts with the club, Wenger believes they've shaken off any of those wantaway desires from the past summer.

"I am convinced they love the club and love the team, but all the rest will be decided - when? I don't really know," Wenger said, as quoted by BBC Sport.

"I believe they love the club and want to stay, but there are other top clubs out there who offer good contracts as well."

Wenger added: "They've shown their commitment again. I've never questioned their commitment.

"They can have bad games but the problem is that, when a player gets near the end of his contract and has a bad game, everybody says it's because he's going. Their interest is to play."

Sanchez was linked to a reunion with his former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, and was also pegged to join Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain over the summer. Ozil has also reportedly eyed a reunion with a former boss in Jose Mourinho at Manchester United - the two worked together at Real Madrid.
